Are you visiting the dentist during your orthodontic treatment?

July 29th, 2014

If you’re brushing your teeth twice a day during your orthodontic treatment, Dr. Karen Seder and our team think that’s wonderful! But, don’t forget that it’s also important for you to visit your general dentist every six months, or as recommended, in addition to brushing your teeth and flossing. (And visiting Seder Orthodontics for regular adjustments, of course.)

Dental checkups are crucial for maintaining good oral health. Your general dentist can check for problems that might not be seen or felt, detect cavities and early signs of tooth decay, as well as catch and treat oral health problems early. During an oral exam, your dentist can also check the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue. Checkups will also include a thorough teeth cleaning and polishing.

If you have not been to the dentist in the last six months, let us know during your next adjustment visit and we will provide a few great references in the Chicago, IL area!

iTero® Digital Scanner NEW at Seder Orthodontics!!

July 25th, 2014

Orthodontics has gone 3D at Seder Orthodontics! Seder Orthodontics and our team are proud to offer our patients the Cadent iOC digital impression system, which digitally captures the contours of your teeth, providing an accurate, goop-free digital orthodontic scan in just minutes for Invisalign only at this time.

The iOC scanner system, powered by iTero technology, eliminates the goop, gagging, and discomfort typically associated with the traditional impression method. The digital impression procedure ensures a more comfortable experience for the patient and produces a more precise scan for Seder Orthodontics. What’s more, the scanner uses visible light, so you won’t have any exposure to radiation during the procedure.

To learn more about the iTero digital scanner, or to book your next appointment at Seder Orthodontics, please give us a call!

What is expected of me during my orthodontic treatment?

July 22nd, 2014

We hear this question a lot at Seder Orthodontics, and we don’t mind when patients who are eager to complete their orthodontic treatment ask us. After all, we know there is no better feeling than getting your braces off!

During your initial consultation with Dr. Karen Seder, we will map out a specific treatment for you and will try our hardest to give you a timeline of when we expect you to wrap up treatment.

Having said that, we know every patient is different. People have different biological responses to orthodontic treatment and some people’s teeth may move faster than others.

Luckily, there are things you can do to ensure your treatment wraps up in a timely manner. By following these suggestions, you can avoid any setbacks during your treatment.

  • Make sure to keep your adjustment appointments. Postponing or cancelling will delay treatment!
  • Be sure to show up on time to your appointments. This will give Dr. Karen Seder and our team time to do everything we planned during your adjustment visit.
  • When prescribed, make sure you are diligent about wearing rubber bands or other appliances.
  • Avoid damage to your braces and teeth by wearing a mouth guard during sports activities.
  • Make sure to brush and floss regularly! Gum disease or other dental work can delay orthodontic treatment.

If you remember to follow these guidelines, you’ll be on your way to having the dazzling, healthy smile you’ve always wanted. As for us, our team at Seder Orthodontics will do our part to move your orthodontic treatment along efficiently. If you have any questions about your treatment time, please give us a call at our Chicago, IL office or ask us during your next visit!
