Adopt A Family!

Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC) was founded in 1977 and is committed to ending domestic violence through using self-help empowerment approach while working for social change through education, service collaboration and institutional advocacy. CAWC operates a shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence (Greenhouse), a community based counseling advocacy program (Humboldt Park Outreach Program- HPOP), Hospital Crisis Intervention Project (HCIP) at Stroger Hospital, and on-site domestic violence services to patients at Haymarket Center.

While the holiday season is a time for festivities, family gatherings and fun for most people, CAWC participants often do not have the same opportunity. Each year, CAWC seeks to provide families with warm holiday memories. The holiday season CAWC also provides the children a sense of community where they are able to share in the holiday spirit as their peers and friends from school do and allows them to celebrate despite the difficulties they have experienced.

When you adopt a family, you will grant three small wishes to each family member (up to $25 per gift). You will be provided with names and ages of each family member and what they would like.
